Here we see a depiction of the pump in motion. The inlet is on the left and the outlet on the right. As the right coil is energized, the piston is drawn toward it, opening the outlet check valve and forcing out any fluid trapped between the piston and outlet, while simultaneously drawing fluid forward through the line. When the left coil is energized, the piston is drawn back the other direction, closing the outlet check valve and opening the valve in the piston. Fluid is forced through the center of the piston, filling the chamber forward of the piston in preparation for the next forward stroke.
